In addition to the annual festival in January, Palm Beach Poetry Festival partners with other nonprofit organizations and schools to bring poetry into the lives of Palm Beach County residents year-round.
HIGH SCHOOL POETRY CONTEST - Annually
The festival works with literary arts teachers throughout Palm Beach County and distributes contest information through the offices of school principals about the contest. Last year, we received over 300 entries! Students in grades 9-12 in public, private, and charter schools in Palm Beach County are invited to participate. Winner and runners up are honored at an event during the festival. See the guidelines for the contest at: http://www.palmbeachpoetryfestival.org/other/hs_contest
BARDS OF A FEATHER
An open reading event at Green Cay Wetlands Preserve.
At this open, "round robin" reading, participants are invited to bring three to four poems about nature to read. Poems can be old favorites or original poetry. The event is free and open to the public and co-sponsored by the Friends of Green Cay. Check the events page for dates and times.
